As L lifted his eyes to meet his, Robin found himself looking at him all the more intently. Youthfulness was a family trait that they had both apparently received in a double measure and, should he search hard enough, he could probably pick out the elements in his pale face inherited from their father. No doubt he would discover something similar in his own reflection- if the thought of trying didn’t exhaust him so completely. It didn’t suit him to claw for feeble claims to kinship.
They might not have been close but even a complete stranger couldn't fail to note the wary glance he gave his hand the hand on his shoulder and Robin released him. "You seemed eager to return to your study," he explained, "But it seems I was mistaken. I wanted to speak with you about a personal matter."
It went without comment that he had been just as quick to his feet without the excuse of work.
