The blandness of the statement makes Timo surprised, staring at Ivan for a moment, caught out. He would have expected Ivan to maybe tell him about some of the friends that he'd left behind, or maybe talk about the friends that he'd like to have, but not that. It almost sounded discouraging, or at least it did to Timo, as though friends were something that happened to other people. "I get on well with everyone here." He replied, still mulling Ivan's response over. "Well, those I talk to a lot, anyway. And the master's, well. He's hard to get friendly with. But he's still nice! Everyone's been good to me, even though my English wasn't very good when I got here. It still isn't, really. But we can learn together, you and me!" Or at least that's what he hopes.
